June 21, 2024

 Dear Families,

Welcome to our final blog of the 2023-2024 school year!

We have been working through our last full week of school by doing some fun learning activities.  We have been doing a ten day countdown to summer, with each day having a different theme.  The students have enjoyed Jellyfish Day, King and Queen Day, Popcorn Day, Jungle Day, and Clay Art Day.  We have worked through a lot of stories, songs, and art projects to help us celebrate each day.  The students have also had a lot of fun creating masks, crowns, and dressing up in costumes to help them understand and connect to each theme.  As part of Clay Art Day, we are creating some beautiful pieces for the students to bring home next week.  The students have also been enjoying their gym time outside, as well as music in the music room throughout the week.

June 10-14, 2024

 Dear Families,

It was another busy week here in EES!  Our students are working their way toward summer vacation with lots of fun learning activities here at school.

Students have been focusing on sea animals, community helpers, and money!  We have been learning lots of songs and exploring vocabulary to understand these new creatures, people and concepts.  The students have also had lots of opportunity for outdoor learning and exploration in the sunshine.  Our friends also got to create some beautiful pieces of art using paint, salt dough and other fun materials.

To help us keep track of the days until the end of the year, we have started a 10 day countdown!  Today the students made some delicious lemonade and enjoyed some tasty cookies to kick off the countdown.  We were able to explore some fun vocabulary while we sampled the ingredients of the lemonade along with the finished product.  We had to practice our life skills to measure, mix, and use words like 'sour' and 'sweet' to describe the lemonade and cookies.  The students will have to wait and see what fun activities are in store for them next week!

Global Citizenship Fundraiser

On Thursday June 20, the Grade Three students at our school will be hosting a Global Citizenship fundraiser in support of the Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth, which supports newly arrived immigrants and refugees.

They will be selling various student handmade items for $2. There will also be lemonade and fudge bites available for purchase.

If you would like your child to participate, please send money with them and we will help them select their items to purchase.

Thank you for all of your support!

Jersey Day

In support of the Edmonton Oilers in the playoffs, we are encouraging students and staff to wear their jerseys on playoff days (June 18, 21, 24).

 Hello EES families!

Happy last month of school! June welcomed us with beautiful (sometimes windy) weather. We are so excited to move our learning outdoors!

During our Wellness and  Science lessons, we explored the changes in Nature and plants using our five senses. Our students also had an opportunity to practice meditation and calming strategies through music.

In Math, we focused on developing our subitizing skills (ability to tell the number without counting). We discovered that domino is a very fun way to practice these skills!

In Art, our students created beautiful little caterpillars from recycling materials.

We have some exciting news for you!
