Hello families!
It was lovely meeting with you during our conferences on Thursday and Friday! We appreciate your insights and are looking forward to partnering with you this year during your child’s learning journey.
In case you couldn’t make it in person, we are happy to connect with you over the phone/online.
Students and staff participated in the annual Terry Fox run on September 19th. We attended a special assembly in the gym, then moved outside to complete our run in the field.
This week we learned about the Fall season and connected it to Literacy and Math concepts.
Students gained an understanding that the leaves turn from green to red, yellow, orange and brown before they fall to the ground. Autumn (sometimes called fall) is one of the four seasons of the year and is the time of year that transitions summer into winter.
Reminder: Monday is Orange Shirt Day. We will be having a school assembly and students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt to school.
· Upcoming Dates
· September 29 – NO School – National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
· October 9 – NO School – Thanksgiving Monday

We have had a busy week in EES!
Our classes have started to learn about the season of Fall, and we will continue this theme in our learning for the next couple of weeks. The students are beginning to explore fall items such as leaves through art, sensory play and language arts. In math the students have worked on numbers, counting and skip counting. They are also continuing to work through the All About Me theme, with a focus on family and exploring their family trees.
The EES classes have been getting a lot of use out of the sensory room, and they continue to enjoy using this space for regulation and learning. The lights, music, vibrations, textures and sounds allow the students to use their senses to explore the space around them, and prepare their minds and bodies for their next piece of learning. Please see these important dates and reminders:
Orange Shirt Day
During the week of September 25-28, students will spend time reflecting on the meaning of Orange Shirt Day.
The week will begin with a whole school assembly on Monday, September 25 where students will hear a story about the history of Orange Shirt Day.
Classroom activities throughout the week will include age-appropriate activities related to Indigenous ways of knowing and cultural significance.
Friday, September 29 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. All CBE schools will be closed.
Terry Fox Run
MTS Terry Fox run will take place on Tuesday, September 19 at 9:00 am.
If students can, we are asking them to bring Toonies for Terry. Our fundraising goal is $1200, which is approximately a toonie for every student and staff member in the school.
If we reach our goal, then some staff members, including Mr. V., have agreed to wear a tutu for a day!
Nut Aware School
We are a “nut" aware school. We have students with severe allergies that are life threatening. Please avoid sending nut products to school.

Good afternoon, EES families!
We have had a wonderful start to the school year!
Each class has been working on building our classroom communities through learning about each other and ourselves. The focus over the last week has been on a book called "All About Me" to help the students think about things such as what they like to eat, what they look like, and their favourite colour.
The students have really enjoyed exploring the new sensory room, and have had daily opportunities to use this space to help them feel calm and ready to learn. The light, sound and touch features of the room have been so fun to try out, and the students have all shown that they like to spend time in this new place.
Have a great weekend!
