 Dear Parents,

This week has been filled with some sunshine, excitement and plenty of smiles.

Math: Telling Time to the Hour and Half Past

In our math lessons, the focus was on mastering the skill of telling time. Students engaged in interactive activities to learn how to tell time to the hour and a half past.

Language Arts and Science: Exploring Arctic Animals

Our language arts and Science curriculum took us on a journey to the icy realms of the Arctic. Students delved into the fascinating world of Arctic animals, through stories, pictures, games, and movement science experiments.

Cooking: Crafting Delicious Hot Chocolate

In our cooking session, students had the opportunity to indulge their senses in the delightful aroma of hot chocolate. With guidance and support, they eagerly participated in preparing this cozy winter treat.

Art and Craft: Creating Polar Bears

Creativity flourished in our arts and crafts activities as students created cute polar bears. The finished polar bears now adorn our walls.

Outdoor Play: Embracing Nature's Playground

With boundless energy and enthusiasm, students embraced the opportunity to explore, socialize, and engage in physical activity while playing outside in the snow.

January 16-19th, 2024

Hello families!

We had a busy and fun week.

In language Arts, we learned about Winter and Arctic animals. We did predictable chart writing, listened to stories, watched videos and did related sensory and art activities.

In Math, we started to learn the concept of time. Students enjoyed exploring different kinds of clocks, and play "What time is it Mr.Wolf"

In science, we explored magnetism through cool experiments.

In cooking, after the "blue" week and dealing with such cold weather, we made hot chocolate and polar bear cookies. It was a huge hit with our students.

We are so thrilled to have a new music teacher Ms. Darr. Our students enjoyed every moment in the music class!

With the cold weather, so many of our students are experiencing dry and cracked skin and lips. So, if your child suffers from dry skin during the harsh winter months, you may send a hand cream or lip balm in their backpacks for their personal use.

January 22 - Parent Council Meeting Online

January 31 - FUN LUNCH - Little Caesars Pizza

February 15 & 16 - Teacher's Convention - NO SCHOOL

February 19 - Family Day - NO SCHOOL

 Hello EES Families!

It has certainly been a chilly first week back, but this has not stopped our EES students from doing some amazing work.
Students have been using the themes of 'winter' and 'winter animals' in their learning.  Winter is a very fun concept to incorporate into many things such as sensory play, science, stories and writing.  There have been some beautiful art pieces created this week using a variety of mediums and materials to make snowflakes, penguins, whales and more.  Winter-themed read-aloud, songs and literacy tasks have also helped the students to begin to learn about winter words and the animals that live in cold places.

We have been doing music in our classrooms this week while the music teacher is absent, and it has been a lot of fun!  The students have explored drums, guitar, bells and maracas while listening to and joining in with some of their favourite songs.   Students have also had the opportunity to make their own music using the GarageBand app on the iPads, which gives them a chance to show their creativity.

With it being so cold, we have not been able to get outside for the last few days, but the students have had fun playing in their classrooms and spending time in the sensory room.
Please continue to send extra clothes, gloves, snow pants and hats, as we expect to get back outside next week.

Important Dates:

January 15 - PD Day - NO SCHOOL

January 31 - FUN LUNCH - Little Caesars Pizza

February 15 & 16 - Teacher's Convention - NO SCHOOL

February 19 - Family Day - NO SCHOOL

February 21 - FUN LUNCH - Subway
