 Dear families!

Happy Earth Week!

This whole week, our focus was on our planet, how we can take care of our Earth and the environment. We continued learning about plants and their role in keeping our planet clean and healthy.

In language arts, our learning groups worked on deepening their knowledge about plants and their life cycle. 

In math, we had fun mastering addition through songs, dance and using manipulatives.

In Science, our students have been taking care of our beans, and finally this week we observed first sprouts coming out! It was very exciting to see!

With the weather getting warmer, we are planning to spend more time outside. We will observe changes in the Nature in springtime, read stories outdoors, look for insects, bugs and learn how to protect them and the environment.

In cooking, we continued our tradition of celebrating the Earth Day with making delicious blue pancakes!

 Dear Families,

Although it has been a short week at McKenzie Towne School, it has certainly been a busy one in EES!

The students are continuing to explore and learn about the plants and flowers that we see in springtime, and are learning how to plant and grow a seed as well as sequencing the life cycle of a plant.  The students have had the opportunity to plant bean seeds in their science lessons, and we will be monitoring them closely to watch them grow!  

Students are also using the theme of plants, flowers and springtime to support their language arts lessons as they practice related vocabulary, and writing about how seeds are planted and how they grow.  In math the students are continuing to work on sequencing numbers and counting, as well as making number bonds to 5 and 10.  

We also had an exciting opportunity this week to experience another part of springtime - baby chicks!  The Kindergarten classes have graciously invited our students to visit with the baby chicks that they have hatched in their classrooms.  Our students loved seeing the chicks and giving them a gentle pet on their fluffy backs.  Next week we hope to visit with some other new hatchlings in Kindergarten, so stay tuned!

 Hello Families! 

We hope you're doing well! Here is a quick update on the wonderful week we've had at school.

The sun has been shining, and it's been fantastic to see the kids enjoying outdoor playtime with their friends.

In Language Arts, our focus was on the beauty of Spring. We had engaging discussions about flowers, leaves, trees, butterflies and all the things beautiful, sparking curiosity and imagination.

Mathematics has been an adventure as we continued to explore the concept of making the number 10 using different combinations. The kids are making great progress in understanding numbers and their relationships.

During our Craft sessions, the children expressed their creativity by crafting beautiful butterflies, cherry blossom trees, and colourful flowers. It's been delightful to see their artistic talents flourish.

We prioritized the safety and well-being of our students by keeping them indoors during the eclipse. However, we made sure the day was both educational and enjoyable for them.

We're looking forward to more exciting learning experiences in the weeks to come!

Volunteer Tea

Parents who have volunteered this year will have received an invitation to our Parent Volunteer Tea. The event will take place on Friday, May 3 at 11:00 am.
