November 25-28, 2024

 Hello EES families!

It is so magical to see Winter is finally here! Even though, we had couple of "blue" days when we stayed inside and weren't able to go outside, we love watching snow falling and all the changes in the nature around us. Inspired be the beauty outside, we created our version of snowflakes and other winter themed art.

In Language Arts, we practiced writing sentences about Winter and learning new words and sounds.

In Math, we continued to focus on comparing numbers and counting using manipulatives.

In Science, we explored melting/freezing points of snow. Observing the changes and disappearing of a snowball in the bowl of hot water was mesmerizing.

Thank you for everyone who attended Parent-Teacher conferences! We were glad to see everyone and discuss progress and other topics with you. If you were unable to attend this time, please contact us and we can reschedule to another convenient for you time.

November 18-22, 2024

 Hello EES Families!

It was another busy week in our classrooms, with lots of learning and fun!

Due to the sudden winter weather, we had a few days of late buses which impacted our morning routines.  The students did great with the changes and managed to continue on with their school days in a positive way.

In Language Arts the students have started focusing on the theme of 'winter' which aligned perfectly with the weather outside.  The students have been writing sentences using adjectives, matching pictures and learning some winter vocabulary through music and read alouds.  In Math, the students have continued to work on identifying if numbers or amounts are equal or unequal, or if pictures and items are the same or different. The piles of snow outside gave us the opportunity to use our 5 senses to explore snow in Science.  The kids had a great time making snowmen, snowballs, and even having a taste!  We will continue to learn about winter and snow in the coming days.  We have also been working on some winter themed art, which is always a fun and messy experience!  On top of all this learning, the students have also practice their music and movement skills in their music and gym classes.

The students have been enjoying the snow outside, but it is always more enjoyable when they are dressed for the weather.  Please ensure that your child has boots, a warm coat, a hat, gloves and snowpants each day for school.  The students go outside every day, and we want to keep them warm and dry.

Parent Teacher conferences are happening on Thursday November 28 4:00-8:00 PM, and Friday November 29 8:00-12:00.  Please sign up for a slot to meet with your child's teacher.  We are looking forward to sharing your child's learning and progress with you!

November 14-15, 2024

 Hello EES Families!

We all hope that you had a wonderfully relaxing fall break, and it was great to see the students back at school.

Although we had a very short week at school, we managed to fit in a lot of learning and fun! Students learned about Métis Week and the culture of the Métis people.  We used stories, dance, music and food to help us understand more about what it means to be Métis. The students made dot art pieces of the infinity flag, and worked together to mix and bake bannock. It was delicious!

The students are also beginning to learn about the theme of winter.  Students explored snowmen through art, and will be working on winter through stories, writing sentences, matching and sorting pictures, and a variety of forms of art. Our students also made waffles this week, since they look so much like snowflakes! The waffles were a warm and yummy treat on this chilly day.

*It is getting colder, please ensure that your child has a warm coat, boots, a hat and mittens to keep them warm outside at recess.
