Hello EES Families!
It was another busy week in our classrooms, with lots of learning and fun!
Due to the sudden winter weather, we had a few days of late buses which impacted our morning routines. The students did great with the changes and managed to continue on with their school days in a positive way.
In Language Arts the students have started focusing on the theme of 'winter' which aligned perfectly with the weather outside. The students have been writing sentences using adjectives, matching pictures and learning some winter vocabulary through music and read alouds. In Math, the students have continued to work on identifying if numbers or amounts are equal or unequal, or if pictures and items are the same or different. The piles of snow outside gave us the opportunity to use our 5 senses to explore snow in Science. The kids had a great time making snowmen, snowballs, and even having a taste! We will continue to learn about winter and snow in the coming days. We have also been working on some winter themed art, which is always a fun and messy experience! On top of all this learning, the students have also practice their music and movement skills in their music and gym classes.
The students have been enjoying the snow outside, but it is always more enjoyable when they are dressed for the weather. Please ensure that your child has boots, a warm coat, a hat, gloves and snowpants each day for school. The students go outside every day, and we want to keep them warm and dry.
Parent Teacher conferences are happening on Thursday November 28 4:00-8:00 PM, and Friday November 29 8:00-12:00. Please sign up for a slot to meet with your child's teacher. We are looking forward to sharing your child's learning and progress with you!
Important Information:
Casino Update
Parent Council is still requiring a few volunteers for next weeks casino.
How it works – We provide volunteers to work at Deerfoot Inn and Casino for two days and the casino donates some of the profits to the school. An advisor trains all the volunteers’ onsite so no prior experience or special skills are necessary. Unlike other school volunteering opportunities, police clearance is NOT required. Some positions must be filled by parents/guardians of children in the school but other positions (cashier, chip runner, and count room staff) can be filled by any adult, including friends or neighbours. Meals are included for volunteers during their shifts.
PLEASE SIGN UP FOR A SHIFT BELOW.
