Dear EES Families,
What a week! There has been an awful lot going on this week, it has kept everyone very busy with learning and fun!
Students have focused on Halloween and Diwali in their language arts lessons this week, which has allowed them to explore celebrations in different cultures. The students have done reading, writing, games and enjoyed stories about these two fun and exciting events. In math, the students have continued to practice identifying if numbers are equal and unequal, and recognizing things that are the same and different. They have done this through sorting, matching tasks, songs and games. The students did some fun science experiments this week, including making Halloween straw shooters, floating ghosts and balloon pumpkins. The students have created some beautiful pieces of art that are inspired by Halloween and Diwali. They have explored different mediums to make their art, such as paint, tissue paper, and gluing mixed materials.
It was so fun to see all of the Halloween costumes that our students wore to school on Thursday, thank you for sending your kids in such funny, scary, and exciting outfits! We hope that all students that went trick or treating had a fun and safe evening.

Casino Fundraiser - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Our Casino Fundraiser Event will be taking place on November 26 and 27 at Deerfoot Inn and Casino.
This is our biggest fundraiser by far, usually raising $40,000-$80,000 for the school to use over the next three years. Proceeds fund residencies, subsidise field trip bussing, buy supplies that benefit the whole school such as library books, and much more.
How it works – We provide volunteers to work at Deerfoot Inn and Casino for two days and the casino donates some of the profits to the school. An advisor trains all the volunteers’ onsite so no prior experience or special skills are necessary. Unlike other school volunteering opportunities, police clearance is NOT required. Some positions must be filled by parents/guardians of children in the school but other positions (cashier, chip runner, and count room staff) can be filled by any adult, including friends or neighbours. Meals are included for volunteers during their shifts.
