Dear Families,
It has been a very busy and very fun week in EES!
The students have taken part in school events to help celebrate Mental Health Week. We joined the school to run laps of the field to help move our bodies and get exercise, we drew and coloured healthy foods, we listened to stories read aloud by a visiting ‘mystery reader’ and we joined in with some surprise dance parties! It was really fun to learn about different ways to keep our bodies and minds healthy.
In Language Arts the students focused on Mother’s Day. We listened to songs and stories, and wrote about how wonderful our moms are! It was nice for the students to think about all of the ways that their moms take care of them, and also to think about how we can celebrate them. In Math we have continued to focus on counting, sequencing numbers, adding and counting on using a number line. Our students have gotten much more confident with using number lines to add two numbers, sometimes up to 100! In Science we have been taking advantage of the nice weather and getting outside. We have been exploring the plants and flowers that are starting to grow, and we also potted our beautiful plants that we grew for Mother’s Day.
The students also created some beautiful art for Mother’s Day, including a card and gift bag. We hope that all families have a lovely weekend celebrating this special day to honour the ladies that look after us! For cooking this week, we used materials that we found outside on these gorgeous sunny days to make ‘Nature Soup’ - we didn’t eat it, but it was very fun to make!
